Jill Wise began working at AAH in 1999, after 20 years in the corporate arena of General Motors computer division. She is enrolled in Purdue's Distance Learning program Vet Techs, and helps out with local wildlife rehabilitation on a small scale.
While in the corporate world, she encountered problems pursuing her wildlife rehabilitation interests, as sneaking baby animals into the office in her purse was generally frowned upon. Now when baby animals need attention, sneaking is no longer necessary, and many time coworkers help with the care and feedings.
Jill and her husband, Dan, have raised 4 children and currently share their home with a multitude of animals. When she started working at AAH, she had 1 dog, 2 cats and 3 parrots. There have been 4 dogs added to the pack, and 7 additional cats, not to mention several "foster" kittens awaiting adoption through AAH's adoption program. She finds it difficult to look the other way when a dog or cat has difficulty finding a deserved home. Dan is very supportive of her interests and builds cages and dens when needed, and pet sitting during her trips to visit kids and grandkids living out of state. He also performs many of her household duties while she crams for finals at school.
Her hobbies and interests include making work "fun" and playing with children and animals. Pet sitting is also a sideline she enjoys. Coworkers rely on Jill to create entertaining gag gifts for birthdays and special occasions. Walking her "invisible dog" back in forth in front of the hospital on April Fool's Day is one of her favorites. "Fun is good, and working at AAH is fun!"
