Allisonville Animal Hospital was established in 1957 by Dr.
Everett Fleming (OSU '55) at 8238 Allisonville Road. It was
named for the village of Allisonville which was located at
what is now the intersection of 82nd Street and Allisonville
Road (or old SR 37).
Dr. Fleming and his wife, Carole started their family and
lived there for serveral years while practicing a mixed, predominately
small animal practice. The large animal portion of the practice
was discontinued in the late 1960s.
Indianapolis continued to grow and with the development of
Castleton Square Mall in the 1970s, the village of Allisonville
faded, but the practice continued to grow.
Dr. James Ward was hired as an associate in 1976, and eventually
bought the practice upon Dr. Fleming's retirement in 1989.
The practice and Dr. Ward owe a great debt to Dr. Fleming
for the solid fountation he established, and for the great
depth of knowledge he shared.
In August of 2000, Allisonville Animal Hospital said goodbye
to their old location and moved to a modern, spacious facility
at 10173 Allisonville Road.
